DPT Laboratories Ltd. implemented a restructuring of the company’s manufacturing and pharmaceutical contract development operations to establish three new centers of excellence that will focus on different areas of expertise.
San Antonio-based DPT set up its Center for Sterile & Specialty Products in Lakewood, N.J. This center will specialize in the development and aseptic manufacturing of clinical trial material and commercial scale products that meet sterile requirements. The 175,000-square-foot site in New Jersey recently underwent a multimillion dollar remodeling to add aseptic processing suites and filling equipment.
The company’s Center for Semi-Solids & Liquids in San Antonio will provide pilot, clinical and commercial scale manufacturing for prescription and over-the-counter products. This center also includes a dedicated aerosol and pMDI manufacturing facility to manufacture inhaler/puffer devices that deliver medicine into a person’s lungs. This facility also underwent a multimillion dollar investment to improve efficiency and increase capacity.
DPT’s Center for Research & Development in San Antonio will focus on providing pharmaceutical development services for drug companies. Employees at this center will perform research and development activities and support technical transfers to the appropriate manufacturing center of excellence.
“We feel each of these centers of excellence will provide our clients with access to experienced personnel who are experts in their field and who will provide comprehensive development and manufacturing services,” says DPT President and Chief Operating Officer Paul Johnson. “These strategic changes reflect our mission of providing enhancements to service, innovation, and technology for our customers as we move into our next strategic plan.”
