(SAN ANTONIO) – Vidacare Corporation, the leading developer, manufacturer and marketer of advanced intraosseous technology, has been recognized as a finalist for the 2009 World Technology Award for Health & Medicine. The awards were announced at the World Technology Summit and Awards Gala in New York City on July 16, 2009; the overall category winner was the Mayo Clinic. All finalists are automatically inducted into membership in the World Technology Network.
The World Technology Awards are presented by the World Technology Network, in conjunction with TIME Magazine, CNN, Fortune Magazine and Science Magazine/AAAS, among others, to showcase extraordinary innovation with great long-term significance. This elite global organization has approximately 1,000 members from more than 60 countries, all focused on the business or science of bringing important emerging technologies of all types into reality.
“We are honored that our technology platform has been recognized with this program and are proud to share the honor with companies that are changing the status quo in innovative ways in so many various industries,” commented Phil Faris, Vidacare’s President and CEO.
"Being inducted into the World Technology Network is an extremely prestigious honor for Vidacare,” commented James P. Clark, Chairman/Founder of the World Technology Network. “The WTN brings key players together – from the world’s leading corporations to the world’s newest start-ups – helping to make things happen sooner and better than they might have, and we are delighted to have Vidacare as part of our organization."
Expanding upon its EZ-IO® Vascular Access System, which provides immediate vascular access through the intraosseous space, Vidacare’s OnControlä Bone Marrow System for aspirations, biopsies and stem cell collections is being commercially launched over the 3rd quarter of 2009, to be followed by the OnControl Bone Access System for spinal surgical procedures.
