KCI's updated wound care device gets FDA clearance

SAN ANTONIO - The latest version of a portable wound care device made by Kinetic Concepts, Inc. of San Antonio has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the company said Thursday.

The V.A.C.Via Negative Pressure Wound Therapy System will be available nationally in early December, KCI officials said. It can be used by patients who need continued wound therapy after arriving home from the hospital.
