DPT Laboratories to provide leadership, growth support to Canadian company
October 16, 2013

By W. Scott Bailey, San Antonio Business Journal

Renaissance Acquisition Holdings LLC is integrating two of its companies - San Antonio-based DPT Laboratories and Confab, which has its headquarters in Quebec.

As a result of the move, the two contract development and manufacturing organizations will operate under the leadership of DPT Group President and Chief Operating Officer Paul Johnson.

Confab will be rebranded as a DPT company.

The plan, say DPT officials, is for the Alamo City company's sales and marketing teams to introduce Confab's specialized expertise in complex solid, semi-solid and liquid-dosage products to new pharmaceutical industry clients - particularly in U.S. markets.

The management teams for both companies will remain in place.

"Confab is one of the most respected pharmaceutical outsourcing organizations in Canada, with more than 30 years of experience in manufacturing, packaging and analyzing a wide range of projects for both large and small pharmaceutical companies," Johnson says.

"The integration will provide our sales team with complimentary manufacturing capabilities and a broader range of services to offer to our customers," Johnson adds. "At the same time, the increased marketing support will leverage the continued investment Confab has made in infrastructure and capabilities, paying dividends in new client development and increased sales growth."

Confab has 350 employees and a 140,000-square-foot production facility, which is licensed by the Health Canada Therapeutic Products Directorate, as well as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

"DPT's sales and marketing team has a proven track record for building client relationships and driving growth," says Confab General Manager Nathalie Brisson. "For our team at Confab, this will mean broader recognition of our capabilities and services, access to new markets and increased opportunities for growth."

DPT, considered an industry leader in the semi-solids and liquids markets, has research and development operations and manufacturing facilities in San Antonio, as well as in Lakewood, N.J., where it is expanding its presence in the sterile and specialty products markets.
