Methodist Hospital and its campuses at Methodist Children's Hospital, Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital, Metropolitan Methodist Hospital and Northeast Methodist Hospital received a Gold Award from the Texas Medical Foundation's Health Quality Institute.

The award was for distinguished efforts in improving the quality of health care and was one of just two gold awards that were given out.

Also, Methodist Stone Oak Hospital and Methodist Ambulatory Surgery Hospital received Silver Awards. Methodist Texsan Hospital, now a campus of Methodist Hospital, applied for the award in 2010 just before joining the Methodist Healthcare System in 2011 and won a Bronze Award.

The awards acknowledge hospitals for improving care for patients suffering from heart attacks, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care. These areas have been named national health care priorities by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Joint Commission, an independent nonprofit that sets standards in health care.
