HCA teams with AirStrip
February 17, 2012

By Patrick Danner, San Antonio Express-News

A subsidiary of hospital operator HCA Holdings Inc. has made a financial investment in San Antonio's AirStrip Technologies Inc. Terms weren't disclosed.

As part of the deal, HCA announced it will expand the availability of AirStrip's mobile patient-monitoring software to physicians at its hospitals. HCA operates 158 acute-care hospitals, as of the end of last year. It is a part owner in Methodist Healthcare System, which has nine area hospitals.

AirStrip Cardiology, which allows physicians to view electrocardiograph data, has been in use at a limited number of HCA facilities.

HCA's Health Insight Capital subsidiary made the investment in AirStrip. Last week, AirStrip announced it received an investment from a fund connected with Qualcomm Inc., which invests in emerging technologies.
