San Antonio Hosting FIRST® LEGO® League 2010-11 Season Alamo Kick-Off!
August 17, 2010

Austin, TX – On Saturday, September 11, 2010, the Central Texas FIRST LEGO® League (FLL) is hosting its 2010-11 Season - Alamo Kick-off at Alamo Colleges – Northwest Vista College. The regional wing of an international program designed by U.S. FIRST®, Central Texas FLL is a hands-on robotics competition for students aged 9-14 that introduces them to solving real-world problems by applying science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The annual tournament season includes a robot game, technical presentation, and research project and presentation. Season events are taking place in Austin, San Antonio, and Kyle in an effort to serve the greater Austin-San Antonio metropolitan areas.

The 2010-11 Season - Alamo Kick-Off is designed to unveil the 2010 Body Forward™ Challenge, which invites student teams to explore the world of biomedical engineering. The Alamo Kick-Off event includes a season overview, resources for coaches and mentors, a walk-thru of the robotic challenges found on the new Body Forward™ field mat, and a discussion about potential biomedical engineering research projects. The Alamo Kick-Off is recommended for those currently involved in FLL as well as those interested in learning more about becoming an FLL coach, mentor, judge or referee for the first time. Team members are welcome to attend with a coach.

The Alamo Kick-Off is happening in the Lago Vista Room of the Cypress Campus Center from 10:00 AM to noon. Seating is limited, so teams cannot bring more than five guests. Registration is required and light refreshments will be provided.
