What: Join us as we recognize Col. (ret) George Peoples, Jr., MD, FACS with BioMed SA's 2016 Award for Innovation in Healthcare & Bioscience. During his 30-year military career, Dr. Peoples served as a combat trauma surgeon and a pioneer in the emerging field of cancer immunotherapy. Following his 2014 retirement as Chief of Surgical Oncology at San Antonio Military Medical Center, Dr. Peoples founded San Antonio-based Cancer Insight, a boutique clinical research organization focused on conducting early-stage clinical trials of cancer vaccines and therapeutics. He also helped create the non-profit Metis Foundation to help military researchers administer federally funded grant programs.
